Sudan Democracies was established in the aftermath of the 2019 revolution, when millions of Sudanese demanded freedom, peace, and justice. Despite the promise of a civilian transition, the country has endured repeated setbacks—from military takeovers to the outbreak of nationwide war in 2023. Our initiative arose from the recognition that independent documentation, citizen empowerment, and informed policy engagement are essential to safeguard democratic aspirations. We draw inspiration from Sudan’s vibrant civil society, youth movements, and diaspora communities, working hand in hand with local and international partners to ensure that the sacrifices of Sudanese people are not forgotten and that pathways to justice remain open.
